The Tampa Bay area has all kinds of sports for its inhabitants to enjoy. The assortment includes baseball, football, soccer and more. Most importantly Tampa Bay Lightning hockey! Whether you’re a fan of sports or not, I don’t think anyone can say that going to a Tampa Bay Lightning game is boring.

In fact, the Tampa Bay Lightning made it to the Stanley Cup last year and is ready for another intense season at the Amalie Arena. If that doesn’t excite you, here’s something that should: student rush tickets make going to hockey games affordable!

Each home game you can show up at the arena 30 minutes before puck drop and get amazing seats for just $20! That’s an incredible deal when you consider that these tickets can go for hundreds of dollars!

Watching the Tampa Bay Lightning is a favorite pastime of many Tampa Bay Residents, including myself, and for good reason. These games are action packed. I personally never even thought of watching hockey until I moved to Tampa, and now I can’t wait to get to the Amalie Arena and watch them play.

The only requirement is that you show up with a valid student ID. If you also wear your Tampa Bay Lightning gear you can get escorted to your seat 30 minutes before puck drop, however if you’re fresh out of Lightning gear you will have to wait until 15 minutes prior to puck drop (and possible not get as good of seats). In addition, make sure you join the student rush text club so that you can get the code of the day every game day, which is essential to getting in.

  1. This is a great idea for an inexpensive night out and something I had no idea even was going on until reading this article. With campus being so big and there being so many deals going on for students we tend to bypass some really awesome deals like this one! Looking forward to attending one of the lighting games!

  2. This is one of my favorite perks about being a USF student. I take full advantage of student rush tickets for every game I attend. Most of the time, if I arrive earlier than the 30 minutes, I can get even better seats. One time I paid $20 and got two tickets for center ice and fifth row seats! That is an extremely good deal considering those prices are normally $100 plus. Can’t wait to take advantage of this deal for this season! GO BOLTS!
