Now that the weather is getting nicer, everyone wants to be outside. A great place to be during these cooler days is the USF Botanical Gardens. The Gardens are tucked away off of USF Pine Drive. For only $1, USF students (with a valid ID) can explore 16 acres of beautiful plants and flowers. You might even run into Rafters, the Gardens’ beloved pet cat!
Many varieties of local honey are available to purchase for relatively low prices ($1 for four honey sticks, $8 for a 1 lb. jar). Other products, such as organic soap and sunscreen (always necessary in Florida) also tempt customers with whimsical brand names like “The Naked Bee.”
The Botanical Gardens is a beautiful place to walk around and learn about plants, but they are much more than a simple garden. Events are often hosted there as well, like the orchid show and sale this weekend. This event is sponsored by the Tampa Orchid Club. Admission is only $5 and parking is free.
So what are you waiting for? Grab some friends and take an afternoon to explore this garden paradise. Who knows, you might end up with some delicious honey or beautiful flowers!
Have you ever been to the Botanical Gardens? If so, I’d love to hear your experience. Tell me about it in the comments!
