Movie Night In on a Budget

By Alison Hickey

If you’re like me and you live with three other girls, you probably spend a lot of time hanging out with them. My roommates and I are all on pretty tight budgets, so when we try to find something to do together, we are usually on the same page when it comes to how much we are willing to spend.

A night in is easy to do if you’re on a budget. My roommates and I definitely utilize the local Redbox. You can find a location near you, and browse the movies available before you head out to pick the movie up. You can even reserve a movie ahead of time, to make sure it won’t be gone by the time you arrive at the kiosk.

Most Redbox kiosks are located outside of grocery stores, so what we usually do is have one person pick up the movie, while the others go into the store and grab some snacks.

If you plan what you’re going to watch and eat beforehand, you can look up what snacks are on sale at your local grocery store. Publix is really great when it comes to buy one, get one free snacks, so you can usually get a good amount of snacks for your movie for not a lot of money.

After that, all you have to do is go home, sit back, relax and enjoy!

  1. Alison,
Movie nights in are a staple activity in college. My boyfriend and I frequently have date nights involving this. We have a Netflix account and will have movie marathons accompanied with an oven-baked pizza. The little things are sometimes the most fun (and cheap).
